Caveats,

None that I know of, you should be able to install this in around 15 - 30 minutes tops, if you are not sure I am available to install for you (for a fee). Enjoy this contribution :- )

Calendar Set up

The link you need to create an account and set up your calendar www.google.com/calendar

Log into Google Calendars (create an account if not already done) 

From the menu top right click settings 

Set up your calendar the way you like it, or leave for later. 

Click on Calendars (three links below Calendar settings heading

General   Calendars    Mobile set up) 

Click on your shown email account 

Then fill in the details or not, and copy the code in the box next to Embed this Calendar.

it will look like the following

<iframe src="http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=opensourcecommerce.net%40googlemail.com&ctz=Europe/London" style="border: 0" width="800" height="600" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>

Note you can change the width and height if you desire.

Store Set up

Once you have this information you need to add it to the files then the files to your store.

Open catalog/includes/languages/english/google_events.php,
fine the last line,
define('CALENDAR', '<YOUR CODE FROM GOOGLE GOES HERE>'); 

Delete the <YOUR CODE FROM GOOGLE GOES HERE> and paste in your own code.
make sure you keep the two single quotes one either side or it will not work!

It will look like

define('CALENDAR', '<iframe src="http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=opensourcecommerce.net%40googlemail.com&ctz=Europe/London" style="border: 0" width="800" height="600" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>');

 

You might also want to change the text displayed in the Nav Bar the Bread crumb and the actual page text you do this in the same file

define('NAVBAR_TITLE', 'UP coming events'); // changes the Nav bar text define('HEADING_TITLE', 'Events'); // Changes the Breadcrumb text define('EVENTS_TEXT', 'Change to suit your store'); // The message displayed on your page

 

Save and upload the files to your store.

To add the link to access the calendar

open catalog/includes/boxes/information.php and add the following

'<a href="' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_EVENTS) . '">' . BOX_INFORMATION_EVENTS . '</a><br>' .

 

AFTER

'<a href="' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_SHIPPING) . '">' . BOX_INFORMATION_SHIPPING . '</a><br>' .

so it looks like

'<a href="' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_SHIPPING) . '">' . BOX_INFORMATION_SHIPPING . '</a><br>' . '<a href="' . tep_href_link(FILENAME_EVENTS) . '">' . BOX_INFORMATION_EVENTS . '</a><br>' .

Save and close the file

Additional

You can link to your calendar with Google gears, a bit of software that allows you to sync and work on your calendar from a simple icon placed on your desktop, updating the calendar on your site is automatic and will require no further input from you on the site. As soon as you update your calendar on Google it will update on the web site.
You are also able to share this calendar with others, please see the Google help for full useage.

This add on is provided free of charge and warranty free, use it at your own risk.
